Change your username

Your username is your public name on SomHack. You can change it once every 30 days.
Change it in Settings
- Open Settings, then Profile.
- Select Edit profile.
- Enter your new username.
- Select Save changes and wait for the result.
Your display name and username share one Save changes action. If either changed field is invalid, neither field is saved.
Username rules
Use 3 to 24 characters: lowercase letters, numbers and underscores. The name must be available. SomHack blocks reserved staff and service names, including names containing “somhack”.
After a change, wait 30 days before changing it again. Your old name is held for 90 days. Only you can reclaim it during that hold, and the change cooldown still applies.
If the change is still appearing
A successful change may take a moment to appear everywhere. Follow the status shown in Settings. If another tab changed your profile, reload before trying a new edit.
Changing your private display name does not change your public username. Your display name and email stay private.
