Connect to the lab VPN with WireGuard
Updated
Some lab targets are on SomHack's private lab network. Connect through WireGuard before opening a private target. VPN access is included equally with Basic, Premium and Gold.
Download your config
- Sign in and open VPN setup from your account menu. The page is called VPN Access.
- Select Download config. Your browser saves
somhack-vpn.conf. - Keep the file safe. It contains your private key. Do not share it. SomHack does not keep a copy of that key.
Lost your file? Select New config on VPN Access. Your old config stops working when the new one is ready.
Connect on Linux
Install WireGuard with your package manager. On Debian, Ubuntu or Kali:
sudo apt install wireguard
Go to the folder holding your downloaded file. These commands assume your browser saved it in ~/Downloads. Change that path if needed.
cd ~/Downloads
chmod 600 somhack-vpn.conf
sudo wg-quick up ./somhack-vpn.conf
The tunnel name is somhack-vpn. When you finish, disconnect from the same folder:
sudo wg-quick down ./somhack-vpn.conf
Connect on macOS
- Install WireGuard from the Mac App Store.
- Open WireGuard and choose Import tunnel(s) from file.
- Choose
somhack-vpn.conf, then select Activate.
Connect on Windows
- Install the WireGuard client from the WireGuard installation page.
- Open WireGuard and choose Import tunnel(s) from file.
- Choose
somhack-vpn.conf, then select Activate.
Check that it works
Return to VPN Access and select Refresh VPN status. Connection shows the observed connection status. Your VPN IP shows your assigned address, and Last handshake shows the last observed contact when available.
On Linux, inspect the tunnel with:
sudo wg show
Look for a recent latest handshake. If the page says Not connected or Unknown, follow VPN connection checks.
