How badges are earned
Updated
Badges recognise finishing selected courses and standalone machines. Not every course or machine has a badge.
Earn a badge
Read the badge's name and description to see what earns it. Finish its course or machine to earn it. You earn each badge once, with the original completion date. A badge does not award extra XP.
If a badge is published after you already completed its course or machine, SomHack can award it from that saved completion. You do not need to repeat the work. The award may appear after the background check finishes.
Find your badges
The badge view shows earned badges in colour with an earned date. Unearned badges show as locked with a description of what earns them. Use All, Courses, Labs or Earned only to filter the view.
Keep what you earned
An earned badge remains if the content changes or your plan ends. New material in a completed course does not reset that badge. Replaying a machine or repeating a finish does not award the same badge twice.
Your public profile can show badges while it is visible. Use profile privacy settings to hide your public profile.
