Why did my machine stop?

A lab can stop while your page is still open. Your saved correct answers, progress and earned achievements survive the stop.

Normal reasons

• You selected Stop machine.
• A CTF machine reached its time limit: 3 hours, or 6 hours if you used its one extension.
• A lesson lab reached its 2-hour maximum.
• The lab controller detected 30 minutes without genuine activity.
• You started a different lab. Only one lab can run at a time.
• You signed out. Signing out in another browser can also stop your active lab.

All plans use the same runtime limits. Leaving the page or closing the tab does not stop a lab and does not itself count as inactivity.

If the machine failed

A confirmed machine failure also stops the runtime. Read the message in the machine panel. Use Refresh status if the displayed status is unclear. If it keeps failing, contact support with the machine name and message.

Start again

Select Start lab when you are ready to continue. Use the target details shown for the new runtime. Your saved answers and permanent completion remain. Restarting does not award the same completed work again.

If you want more time on a running CTF machine, use Add 3 h before its timer ends. Lesson labs cannot be extended.
